Instructions:

You will now write the Environmental Analysis (Sections 1-3 of the IEE outline):

  Activity/Preparer information
1. Background & Activity Description
1.1 Purpose & scope of the IEE
    1.2 Background (Activity justification)
    1.3 Description of Activities
      (with reference to SO/results framework)

2. Country and Environmental Information
    2.1 Locations Affected
2.2 Host country environmental policies and procedures

3. Evaluation of potential environmental impacts

Click on the "resources" tab in the navigation diagram for tools and guidance to help you write this section.

Note: Sections 1 & 2 of the IEE must provide enough information about the activities and the affected environment to allow the reviewer to determine whether the evaluation of environmental impacts (Section 3) is reasonable. However, include ONLY relevant information--not extraneous "fill material."

Common Question: What do I do if activities are not well-defined with respect to their location or their particulars? (e.g., I have a subgrant program, activities at locations to be determined , or am writing an SO-level IEE.)

Answer: Review Step 1 of writing the IEE "decide IEE type." See whether the "multisite IEE" or the "umbrella IEE" applies to your situation. If it does not, you must recommend a DEFERRAL for these activities.
